8. Reflecting on Titus
We have seen during this series that the book of Titus, it is a short but powerful book and must have been an immense help to Titus. It gave him priorities to stick to scripture, attack falsehoods, and rebuke those who taught error and to find church leaders that God would see as useful for the body of Christ.
Last month Esther finished our study looking at living productive lives powered by Grace. Esther pointed out that Paul signs off his letter to Titus with a reminder that the key to living in this way is ‘Gods Grace’.
Key passage Ephesians 2 v8-9
‘For it is by Grace you have been saved, through faith and this is not from yourselves, it is a gift of God- not by works so that no one can boast’
Looking back keeping the overall theme of Grace, in Sharon’s first session she introduced the book of titus and how it is all about how we live the good life powered by Gods Grace in 3 key areas:
Church, Home and World
If we were to allow Gods Grace to transform us in each of the key areas what would that look like?
1. a) Read Titus 1 v6-9 (Church)
How do we support our church leaders with a Grace transformed heart?
1. b) Read Titus 2 v 3-8 (Home)
How do we as women behave towards other women and our families with a Grace transformed heart?
1. c) Read Titus 3 v 1-2 (World)
How do we respect rulers and authorities with a Grace transformed heart?
2. How do we allow Grace to transform our hearts? Read Psalm 103 vs 6-18.
As David reflects on history he is overwhelmed by the greatness of the Grace of God. He speaks of Gods Grace in three dimensions. Past (vs 6-12), Present (vs 13-14) and Future (vs 15-18).
3. Read the following verses in relation to Home, Church, World. Share examples of when Gods Grace has sustained you even in the midst of hardship?
2 Corinthians 6v4-10, 2 Corinthians 12v 9-10, Galatians 2 v 20-21
Its because of this amazing Grace that we as followers are recipients of the following we are
Justified because of Gods Grace (Romans 3v22-24)
We are redeemed because of Gods Grace (Ephesians 1v7-8)
We are saved because of Gods Grace (Ephesians 2v8)
With this in mind take time to pray together using the above verses to help you focus.
Let Grace be what marks you out as a believer; and lets share this Amazing Grace so that those around us can be justified, redeemed and saved.
